The Arizona Cardinals are making moves ahead of the Seattle Seahawks’ rematch

ARIZONA – The Arizona Cardinals have announced the following practice squad changes:

“The Arizona Cardinals Football Club announced today that the team has activated offensive lineman Jackson Barton from the practice squad injured reserve list and released linebacker Ronnie Perkins from the practice squad.”

The Perkins move was first reported yesterday by Aaron Wilson, which you can read more about here.

Barton started one game for Arizona this season at right tackle due to the sidelines of Jonah Williams and Kelvin Beachum, although he suffered a toe injury and was soon replaced by Charlie Heck.

Barton first entered the league as a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and spent time with the Colts, Chiefs (where he won the Super Bowl in 2019), Giants and Raiders before signing with Arizona in April 2023.

The Cardinals are 6-6 after losses in their last two games and will host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14. This sets the stage for a big duel at State Farm Stadium that could decide their place in the NFC playoffs.

It will be the second time in three weeks that Arizona will face Seattle, although head coach Jonathan Gannon says the familiarity and game preparation doesn’t make things any easier.

“No, we go back and go through our normal process. So yes, you’re right when you watch some of these games and study some of the things that we study,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

“You see it a second time, but there are no shortcuts to the creative process. There are no shortcuts just because you played them two weeks ago (and that goes for the way you prepare, how you game plan, and what you teach, and so on). We’re really starting from scratch.

“I spoke to the team today about a division opponent they played against just two weeks ago. “We need to make the right decisions on some of the things that came up in the game and be smart about the things we do in the game.” Because emotions will be high. It’s a divisional opponent. They only played them two weeks ago, so we need to make sure they go in our favor.”
