The backup quarters from Giants cost it the number 1 selection – then signed on Friday at the Seahawks

Another backup quarters back has come and gone for the New York Giants – and it leaves a surprisingly complicated heir.

On Friday, Drew Lock signed the Seattle Seahawks, where he serves as a backup by Sam Darnold. It is not a big loss in any route, but it represents a well -known pattern for the Giants: players who have difficulty getting meaningful roles elsewhere, just to watch them drift as soon as the dust exposed.

Lock’s roller coaster ride in New York

Lock was not expected to be a long -term solution for the Giants, and its 2024 campaign has changed only a little.

He only completed 59.1% of his passports and threw for 1,071 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. It was another year of inconsistency in which there was a questionable decision or poorly time -controlled sales for every decent drive.

Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts felt like an out -of -body experience for Lock. He highlighted the defense for 309 yards and four touchdowns and probably played the best game of his professional career.

It was entertaining, but it also came with a stab.

The victory deleted the hopes of the Giants to reach number 1 in the NFL design of 2025 – a choice that could dramatically shift the direction of the franchise. A random increase in Lock’s quarterback game, and the Giants were selected in third place instead of first.

A familiar result in a familiar cycle

Lock was none of the best quarterbacks in the free agency, and the market reflected this. Nevertheless, Seattle looked worth enough to bring him as a backup, and now he will get a fresh start behind Darnold.
