The Blazers’ trade proposal calls for them to take a chance on the former first-round draft pick

Poised to be one of the more active teams ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline, the Portland Trail Blazers plan to offload some of their many veteran players as they fully focus on a rebuild.

With the Blazers well outside of playoff contention, they are expected to prioritize moves that will position them for long-term success.

An interesting trade proposal could involve them acquiring MarJon Beauchamp, a promising young forward from the Milwaukee Bucks, in exchange for one of their big men and a second-round pick.

Trail Blazer received: MarJon Beauchamp

Bucks received: Duop Reath and 2027 second-round draft pick

Beauchamp, the No. 24 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, struggled to find a consistent role during his three seasons with the Bucks.

The 6-foot-10 winger is known for his athleticism, but has averaged just 4.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 104 career games. Earlier this season, Milwaukee declined Beauchamp’s fourth-year rookie option and made him an unrestricted free agent after the 2024–25 season. This decision suggests the Bucks are willing to move on from him, making him a logical trade candidate as the deadline approaches.

A fresh start in Portland could be just what Beauchamp needs to reach his potential. At just 24 years old, he still has room to grow and the Blazers are the perfect team to give him a longer chance. With a clear focus on youth development, Portland could offer Beauchamp the playing time and patience he needs to be successful. The addition of a young, versatile wing with potential fits perfectly with the Blazers’ long-term goals.

This trade also offers good value for money. As a contending team, they would benefit from getting a second-round pick to improve their future draft capital while also acquiring a big man to bolster their frontcourt strength. While this deal may not grab any headlines, it serves the interests of both teams.

The Blazers gain a young player who fits their rebuilding schedule, while the Bucks gain a player they appear ready to move on from. While this trade isn’t a blockbuster, it fits Portland’s strategy of securing a high draft pick and investing in young talent while allowing Milwaukee to focus on strengthening its roster for a successful playoff run.
