The Cardinals are coming off a big 90-76 road win over the Florida State Seminoles

The Louisville Cardinals bounced back from their road loss to Kentucky last weekend with a big win over Florida State in Tallahassee. The Cards defeated the Seminoles 90-76 in a game that was closely contested for the most part until Louisville took the lead in the final minutes of the game. FSU was never able to get back into the game. Louisville shot 28 for 55 from the field and shot an impressive 51%. They shot an even better 52% from 3-pointers and went 15 for 29. Louisville also dominated the boards, limiting its turnovers to six, while the Seminoles had nine turnovers. Reyne Smith led the team with 27 points, but the entire team tried hard, with Noah Waterman, Terrence Edwards Jr. and Chucky Hepburn all scoring in double figures. J’Vonne Hadley led the Cards on the boards with nine rebounds. Jamir Watkins led Florida State with 25 points. Smith scored his points off the bench and led a 3-point barrage in the second half. The Cardinals led by two points at halftime, then extended the lead early in the second half. An 8-0 run made it 59-50 with 15 1/2 minutes left, and 3 points from Smith and Waterman gave Louisville a 56-45 lead with 13 1/2 minutes left. A 3-pointer from Watkins put the Seminoles ahead 62-58, but Smith answered with a pair of 3s and the Cardinals were back ahead by 10 points. The two 3s came during a 6 1/2-minute stretch in which every Louisville point came on six 3-pointers, four of them by Smith. Florida State cut the score to six points a few more times, but Smith’s final 3 of the game gave the Cardinals an 80-68 lead with just under 4 minutes remaining. They led by at least eight points the rest of the way. The Cardinals play at home next Saturday against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The game starts at noon.

A 3-pointer from Watkins put the Seminoles within 62-58, but Smith answered with two 3s and the Cardinals were back up by 10 points. The two 3-pointers capped a 6 1/2-minute stretch in which every Louisville point came on six 3-pointers, four from Smith.

Florida State cut it to six points a few more times, but Smith’s final 3 of the game gave the Cardinals an 80-68 lead with just under four minutes left. They led by at least eight points the rest of the way.

The Cardinals play at home next Saturday against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The game starts at noon.
