The city of Franklin remains under a month-long boil advisory

ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) – Since August 19th the City of Franklin was then under a boil water advisory Turbidity levels are not properly monitored in water.

Franklin Mayor Eugene Foulcard We spoke with News 10 about the current issue and how we’re working to fix it so it doesn’t happen again.

“Turbidimeters had to be recalibrated. That’s all done. “We have been working very closely with the state of Louisiana to get our boil advisory lifted,” Foulcard said.

The city received an order from the authority to publicize cooking accidents Louisiana Department of Health for incorrect turbidity measurements. Foulcard insists that several tests have taken place in different areas of the city since the violation and that no bacteria have been found in the water. The plant will be equipped with new equipment to adapt to the demand for good water.

“New filters, new backwash pumps, transfer pumps, whatever we need to do. We are moving forward with this,” Foulcard said.

The mayor said even though the facility is outdated, updates and improvements can fix the problem once and for all.

“I am very grateful to our legislative delegation, as well as the hard work and employees of our water plant who work every day to ensure we are putting good drinking water into the system,” he said.
