The Clemson Tigers have an easy scenario to get into the College Football Playoff

The Clemson Tigers were presented with a great opportunity to ultimately secure a ticket to the College Football Playoff. After Syracuse picked up a huge win over the Miami Hurricanes, Clemson will play in the ACC Championship Game.

Of course, as most know, the winner of the ACC Championship Game will automatically be in the playoffs.

After losing to South Carolina yesterday, the Tigers faced a very unlikely chance of getting back into the game. Dabo Swinney and Co. are now in control of their own fate again.

On Saturday, Clemson will play its championship game against SMU for a chance to advance. If they lose the game at the end, they won’t get back in.

Heading into the match, the Tigers are 9-3 while SMU has a record of 11-1. Both teams have shown signs of being playoff contenders this season, but Clemson just hasn’t been consistent.

To beat SMU, the Tigers offense must be prepared. It won’t work with 14 points, just like it didn’t work against the Gamecocks.

Cade Klubnik has shown signs of being an elite college football quarterback in moments this season. Unfortunately, in other cases he seemed like last year’s quarterback who just wasn’t good enough to lead his team to victory.

If he shows up and plays to his full potential, Clemson has a good chance of beating SMU and punching their ticket.

The Mustangs have had a strong offense all season. They have scored 40+ points in five games this year and 30+ points in nine games. The Tigers defense will have to find a way to slow them down.

It will be very interesting to see which version of Clemson shows up for the game next Saturday.

Very few teams get a second chance like the Tigers. Hopefully they take advantage of the opportunity and find a way to get to the College Football Playoff.
