The community can vote for the best display in Downtown Duluth’s annual Christmas window contest

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Downtown Duluth businesses are decorating and competing for the most festive display.

The community decides the winner.

30 downtown Duluth businesses participated in the Holiday Window Contest hosted by Downtown Duluth.

Business leaders said kids love it and hope it can encourage more people to shop locally this holiday season.

“Family, kids, they love it, so we just hope it attracts more foot traffic,” said the general manager of Vitta Pizza in Canal Park.

Ballot boxes will be located at participating businesses so community members can vote for their favorite holiday decorations.

There is a map of all participants on the ballot to encourage people to get out and look at all the windows.

Voting runs through Small Business Saturday, November 30th.

The winner of the competition will be honored at the annual dinner meeting in downtown Duluth on February 5th.

Everyone who votes will automatically be eligible to win one of many gift cards or prizes valued at $50 or more from downtown Duluth merchants.

Last year’s winner, Hucklebeary, is going all out again this year with a smiley face-themed exhibition.

They proudly display their first place trophy in their window.

Niki Whittet, from Hucklebeary, said the competition was a great excuse to go into the city center and spend some time with friends and family.

“Have fun, go out all night, grab some dinner or drinks and vote for your favorite window,” Whittet said.

Companies participating in the Holiday Window Contest include: Fitger’s Complex, Duluth Kitchen Company, Genereau & Co, Zeitgeist, Hucklebeary, Bell Bank, Duluth Coffee Company, Pizza Luce, A & L Properties, Vitta Pizza, Superior Cannabis, Lake Superior Art Glass, Siiviis Gallery, Grandma’s Canal Park, Ragstock, Studio Café, CSL Plasma, Josephine’s Bridal, Namaste Gifts & Healing, Lyric Kitchen Bar, Minnesota Surplus & Outfitters, Townsquare Media, Salon Capelli Inc., Lester River Trading Co., Security Jewelers, YMCA, Frame Corner Gallery, Children’s Dental Services, Frost River and Superior Thread Collective.
