The Coyotes will meet Creighton at Omaha’s well-known site for the NCAA volleyball tournament

VERMILLION, SD (Dakota News Now) – After earning an automatic qualification to the NCAA volleyball tournament as winners of the Summit League tournament, the South Dakota volleyball team travels to Omaha, Nebraska on Thursday night to face No. 2 seed Creighton to compete at 7:00 p.m. in the DJ Sokol Arena.

On the other side of the Omaha bracket is Ole Miss and No. 7 seed Florida State. The Rebels and Seminoles play the first game of the day at DJ Sokol Arena on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The winner of the two games will then play in the second round on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m

The Coyotes became the first Summit League team to win three games in three days to secure the tournament crown. The Yotes fought their way to the championship game with 3-0 wins over Kansas City and Omaha in the first two rounds before winning a five-set thriller over South Dakota State to capture their fifth tournament title in the last seven seasons.

Kylen Sealock was named tournament MVP, while Kamryn Farris and Avery Van Hook were named to the All-Tournament team along with Sealock.

The Coyotes trio also earned honors on the Summit League’s all-league teams, with Farris being named Defensive Player of the Year and Sealock being named to the all-league team, while Van Hook received honorable mention. Lauren Medeck and Morgan Bode were also honored by the league with spots on the conference’s All-Freshman team.

Creighton holds a 6-2 record in the all-time series against the Yotes, and the two teams last met in 2021. The last time the Coyotes and Bluejays met in Omaha, it was the Yotes who won 3-2 against Creighton.
