The director of Monster Hunter Wilds says the game is already much better optimized than in the beta, with further improvements to performance and appearance planned

Last month’s open beta test for Capcom Monster Hunter Wilds was hugely popular, attracting almost half a million concurrent players on Steam in just one hour. That’s not to say it was without issues, however – the beta unfortunately left some players questioning the game’s level of optimization, as they struggled with lower-than-desired frame rates and (admittedly amusing-looking) low-poly models.

However, these concerns are being addressed as we get closer to the game’s release on February 28th. Capcom recently held a preview event for Monster Hunter Wilds and unveiled a new version of the game that features improvements over November’s beta and includes some additional content. In the subsequent joint media interview, the developers of Wilds spoke about optimizing the game and its performance goals.

Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Wilds, commented: “Worlds was designed to run at 30 frames per second and above in resolution (graphics) mode, and we are also optimizing Wilds to run at 30 frames per second and more can be played in 4K resolution mode on PS5. During beta testing, there were instances where rendering did not work properly in the game’s framerate (performance) mode. Elements such as hair and feathers were particularly noticeable due to their pixelated appearance and jagged edges, and we regret that players had to play the game in this state.”

Tokuda further explains that the latest version of Monster Hunter Wilds already has significant improvements in graphics issues compared to the beta version, and that the team is working on further improvements for the full version, with a focus on optimizing both the resolution and frame rate of the Game lies in modes.

Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to release on February 28th on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).
