The expert will advise you on how to prepare your car for winter

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) — As temperatures continue to drop, a local auto body shop manager offers advice on how to prepare your car for winter.

TJ Steele, manager of Tom Steele Auto-Repair Shop, says people often put off making calls until it’s too late.

“There are people who haven’t done the tire repairs, haven’t done the antifreeze checks, all the maintenance on the car hasn’t been done, so you have to do that,” Steele said.

Last Monday there was less than half an inch of snow in Indianapolis and there were over 160 accidents.

Steele says it’s important to get the work done and inspect your car.

“Before you get in your car, look at your tires and make sure they aren’t too low. Make sure your car has gas and heat. If the tire light is on, correct the problem. “You don’t want to have a puncture, it’s too cold to change tires on the side of the road,” Steele said.

He says it’s important to make sure you give yourself enough time to complete these checks and get to your destination safely.

“Just take the time to look at your car before they get in and make sure it’s ready because there are a lot of people who don’t do that and then they end up with a flat tire. Take the time now to go out and have your antifreeze checked and cleaned. It’s just getting colder,” Steele said.
