The Heart of Alabama Food Bank is launching the Fighting Hunger Giving Tree campaign this holiday season.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Heart of Alabama Food Bank has a new way to combat food insecurity for the holidays. The Fighting Hunger Giving Tree campaign aims to ensure more people have access to more food.

The Giving Tree program works with businesses and organizations in the region to make meaningful contributions to reducing hunger in their own communities.

Businesses in 12 counties that the Heart of Alabama Food Bank directly serves sponsor or host Christmas trees decorated with ornaments representing essential items or monetary donations that go directly toward feeding families in need. These five-foot-tall tinsel trees are decorated with QR-coded snowflake ornaments that individuals can pick up and donate directly on the HAFB website.

There is signage next to each tree with instructions on how to donate.

Businesses in Autauga, Bullock, Butler, Chilton, Coosa, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike and Tallapoosa counties are encouraged to participate. All participating companies will receive a name on the HAFB website, social networks and/or in the media. All interested companies can join us in the fight against hunger by filling out the form Commitment form here.
