The High Plains Food Bank is preparing for its annual “Together We Can Food Drive.”

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The High Plains Food Bank is partnering with NewsChannel 10 next week for the annual Together We Can Food Drive.

The High Plains Food Bank and NewsChannel 10 will be collecting food donations for those in need this holiday season at United Market Street, 2530 S Georgia Street.

Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated as the High Plains Food Bank can turn one dollar into nine meals.

“We’re asking the public to get involved and help us get some food back on the shelves, get some food here so we can help the record number of people that we’re seeing. They know there are always more around the holidays,” said Zack Wilson, executive director of the High Plains Food Bank.

The goal of the Together We Can Food Drive is to raise $250,000 to continue meeting the needs of the Texas Panhandle.

Wilson also explained that it can be harder for families to afford groceries because utility bills are higher in the colder months.

The food bank is asking for non-perishable items such as canned goods, cereal, peanut butter and water.

You can also contribute by visiting any United Supermarkets location in the Panhandle and donating any amount.

The Together We Can Food Drive will take place from December 2nd to 6th, daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
