What is “The Holdovers” about?

Giamatti plays Paul Hunham, a strict teacher at the fictional Barton Academy, an all-male boarding school. Dominic Sessa is Angus Tully, a grumpy student who is kept at school during the Christmas holidays when his family abandons him.

Hunham is asked to look after Tully over Christmas, which initially forces him to continue his studies. At first they are enemies, but they soon develop a bond as Hunham takes Tully on a “field trip” to Boston.
