The horror thriller “Heretic” starring Hugh Grant is set to be released on digital streaming

Heretic, the chilling horror thriller starring Hugh Grant, will soon be available for digital streaming. Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the film premiered in theaters on November 8th.

Heretic’s official logline states: “Two young missionaries must prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed, who becomes drawn into his deadly game of cat and mouse.” News.Az reports citing Forbes.

Grant plays Mr. Reed, while Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East play Mormon missionaries Sister Barnes and Sister Paxton, respectively. Topher Grace also plays the role of Elder Kennedy in Heretic.

According to When to Stream, Heretic is expected to be available on digital streaming via premium video-on-demand on Tuesday, December 10th.

While When to Stream is typically accurate with its PVOD reports, the streaming tracker noted that Heretics Studio A24 has neither announced nor confirmed the release date and is subject to change.

How was “Heretic” received by audiences and critics?

According to The Numbers, “Heretic” has earned $26.8 million in ticket sales in North America and $9 million internationally, bringing its global box office total to $35.8 million to date.

According to the Associated Press, Heretic had a production budget of less than $10 million before printing and advertising costs.

Heretic was a huge hit with critics at Rotten Tomatoes, who gave the film a 91 percent “fresh” rating based on 248 reviews overall. Audiences rated Heretic “fresh” at 77% on RT’s Popcorn Meter based on over 1,000 verified user reviews.

The RT Critics Consensus states: “Hugh Grant has infectious fun playing against type in Heretic, a religious horror film that preaches the gospel of goosebumps over cheap shocks.”

Among RT’s top critics who gave Heretic a “fresh” review was ABC News’ Peter Travers, who wrote: “Hugh Grant uses his charm for evil in this provocative cat-and-mouse game about the meaning of if anything, of religion in a world.” godless modern world.
