“The Housemaid,” starring Sydney Sweeney, is scheduled to film in New Jersey in 2025

Look for Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried to travel to New Jersey to film The Housemaid in the coming months.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, The Housemaid is a psychological thriller that follows Millie Calloway as she begins working as a maid for Nina and Andrew Winchester. During her time with the Winchesters, Calloway discovers dark secrets.

The film adaptation of the novel was announced in October, when McFadden wrote in an Instagram post: “I can’t express how excited I am to announce that #TheHousemaidMovie is coming soon! Lionsgate came up with the absolute perfect cast and director, and I’m just so grateful.

The thriller is being brought to life for Lionsgate by director Paul Feig, known for Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor.

Sweeney, known for “Euphoria” and “Anyone but You,” will play Millie, along with Seyfried, known for “Mamma Mia” and “Mean Girls,” who will play Nina.

Andrew is portrayed by North Jersey native Brandon Sklenar, who recently starred in the film adaptation of “It Ends with Us,” which also filmed in multiple locations in the Garden State.

As The Cinemaholic reports, filming is scheduled to begin on January 3rd in New Jersey and end on February 14th, 2025.

Several films have recently been filmed in New Jersey

“The Housemaid” will be just the latest film to be filmed in New Jersey, as the state has become a popular filming location over the past year. Adam Sandler was last spotted on location filming Happy Gilmore 2 in numerous locations across the state.

In October, Jeremy Allen White, best known for his roles in The Bear and Shameless, was in North Jersey filming the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.

Earlier this year, Timothée Chalamet was in the area to film A Complete Unknown, the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic.
