The Indonesian volcano sends Ash Cloud 8 km high, some flights canceled | Vulkan news

The outbreak disturbed several flights and increased the emergency warnings for locals and tourists at the highest level.

An outbreak of Indonesian Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Vulcano in the southeastern part of Flores Island spat more than 8 km (5 miles) in the air, disturbed flights and increased the emergency warnings for residents and tourists to the highest level.

The Indonesian center for volcanology and geological disaster reduction warned the locals and visitors on Friday of activities within a radius from 7 to 8 to 8 miles in the southwest and northeast of the outbreak.

“The ash column was observed gray to black with thick intensity,” said the Volcanology Agency in Indonesia in an explanation of the outbreak, which began on Thursday evening at 10:56 p.m. local time (2:56 p.m. GMT).

There were no immediate reports on damage in the nearby villages, but the agency warned the residents of the potential for volcanic mud flowers due to strong precipitation. The long outbreak caused the country’s geological authority to increase the alarm level of the volcano to the highest four -step system.

Jetstar-die inexpensive subsidiary of Australia Qantas Airways-canceled the flights from Australia to the Indonesian holiday island of Bali on Friday morning because of the volcanic ash. Flights were expected to be resumed in the afternoon.

A spokesman for the Bali Airport informed the Reuters news agency that the gateway was still in operation despite seven canceled international flights and delayed domestic routes.

The outbreak of Lewotobi Laki-Laki followed a tsunami warning from the Japanese meteorological agency that did not happen.

The volcano previously broke out last November, killed at least 10 people and repressed thousands.
