The “irresistible” new period drama with Gillian Anderson, we can hardly wait

In recent years we have been spoiled some amazing adjustments to book-to-TV adjustments: the power, normal people, the history of handmaid and a day, to name just a few.

Now Louise Kennedy’s women’s award winner, in which a new type of difficulties, is the small screens and tells a forbidden love story against the background of the problems of Northern Ireland.

The series will consist of the team behind Brooklyn and an apprenticeship (both we loved) and by Ailbhe Keogan (bad sisters) for the screen. Anderson and Kennedy will also produce the drama as an executive, which later lands on channel 4 this year.

The line -up is led by Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands, Say Nothing), who plays Cushla, a sparkling young woman whose wishes and dreams were frustrated by daily life. Tom Cullen (The Gold) as Michael, a controversial lawyer, and Gillian Anderson (Scoop, Sexual Education) as Gina, Cushla’s mother, a “glorious wreck” that is constantly saving with her daughter.

Other performers are Martin McCann (Blue Lights), Oisín Thompson (my left nut), Emily Taaffe (the ascent), Barry Ward (bad sisters), Lisa Dwyer Hogg (autumn), Lorkankranitch (Bloodlands), Frank Blake (normal people), Gary Lydon (Chochs) and Lalor Roddy.

Channel 4’s synopsis reads: ‘1975, in a city outside of Belfast. Transfer: Will the show be different from the book?

Without a look at the first episode of transitions, it is too early to say whether the act of Kennedy’s extremely popular novel distracts. But from the first look pictures we can already see that some important literary moments and characters can also be seen in the TV adaptation.

The filming for violations in Belfast last December, but we still have a while until the show is actually broadcast on Channel 4. There is still no trailer for the series, but we will update this page as soon as you fall.
