The Last of Us fans welcome the long-awaited release this week

It’s safe to say that The Last of Us franchise is currently on a bit of a break.

We’ve gotten all kinds of remasters, the TV series isn’t due to return until next year, and Naughty Dog is working on a new game that’s supposed to look like a brand new IP.

However, you are wrong if you think this means fans will no longer be treated as this week marks the launch of a very exciting The Last of Us project.

It started as a Kickstarter project that raised a whopping $1 million, raised by 9.7k backers. The Last of Us: Escape the Darkness is a board game set in the popular Naughty Dog universe.

Created by Themeborne, The Last of Us: Escape the Darkness Supports solo and co-op play, allowing up to five players to team up and explore the iconic environment in entirely new ways.

As you explore the open world map, you create your own story as a group of survivors trying to live in a post-apocalyptic world.

With handcrafted pieces, art, cards and more, players can from Escape the darkness will begin their journey in a deserted quarantine zone and hopefully end it in the safe haven of Jackson.

However, the goal is to keep everyone alive, but in a world overrun by infected and equally monstrous humans, it will take a lot of willpower, teamwork and strength to get through.

“Carefully plan your route through the turbulent landscape and solve immersive chapter cards at each location to uncover important information, weapons and equipment,” reads the official description.

“Survival depends on making difficult decisions and the tactical use of item cards and custom dice to overcome a variety of threats, including Hunters, FEDRA agents, and the dreaded Infected.”

The Last of Us: Escape the Darkness will be released on December 5th, but can be pre-ordered now.
