Gregg Wallace has broken his silence with a social media post, two days after allegations emerged that he made a series of inappropriate sexual comments.

On Instagram, the Masterchef presenter shared a story of a gingerbread man with the caption: “Enjoy your weekend.”

This came after the charity Ambitious about Autism sacked him as ambassador, a role he took up two years ago after regularly speaking out about his four-year-old son’s condition.

Penny Lancaster said she was prepared to contact the “appropriate authorities” about his behavior after the MasterChef presenter resigned after making inappropriate sexual comments over several years.

Ms Lancaster’s husband, Rod Stewart, accused Wallace on Instagram on Thursday of “humiliating” his wife and then having the footage “edited” as she took part in the 2021 celebrity version of “Masterchef”.

Wallace left the BBC show on Thursday (November 28) following allegations from 13 people who worked with him on programs over a 17-year period.

The Independent has reached out to Wallace’s representatives for comment. A BBC spokesman said: “Any behavior that falls below the standards expected by the BBC will not be tolerated.”

Who is celebrity chef Gregg Wallace?

Mr Wallace, 60, is best known for presenting MasterChef and its spin-offs Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals alongside John Torode since 2005.

He was the original presenter of the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen in 2002 and has also appeared in Eat Well For Less, Inside The Factory, Turn Back Time, Harvest and Supermarket Secrets.

He was appointed MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honors in 2022 for his services to food and charity. Mr Wallace took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 and was partnered with Aliona Vilani.

He has two children, Tom and Libby, from a previous relationship. He married Anne-Marie Sterpini in 2016 and the couple has a son named Sid.

Gregg Wallace stopped by an autism charity

Presenter Gregg Wallace has been banned from an autism charity after allegations he made inappropriate comments to colleagues.

He was named an ambassador for Ambitious about Autism after his four-year-old son Sid was diagnosed with the condition.

A spokesman for Ambitious about Autism said: “In light of the recent allegations, we are no longer working with Gregg Wallace.

“We informed him of our decision and thanked him for supporting our work over the last two years.”

“Wallace fully cooperates” with the production company’s review

Gregg Wallace is “committed to fully cooperating” with an external review by MasterChef’s production company, Banijay UK.

A statement from the company said: “This week the BBC received complaints from individuals relating to historic allegations of misconduct involving presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our programmes.”

“Although these complainants have not raised the allegations directly with our show producers or parent company Banijay UK, we believe it is appropriate to conduct an immediate external review in order to conduct a full and impartial investigation.

“While this review is ongoing, Gregg Wallace will be stepping down from his role at MasterChef and is committed to cooperating fully throughout the process.

“Banijay UK’s duty of care to employees is always a priority and our behavioral expectations are made clear to both cast and crew on all productions, with multiple opportunities to raise concerns on set, including anonymously.

“While these allegations are historic, incidents reported to us where these expectations are not met are thoroughly investigated and appropriately addressed.”

MacKenzie compared Wallace to the characters James played in the Carry On films, detailing the BBC’s investigation into inappropriate comments he allegedly made over a 17-year period.

“He made stupid, unfunny jokes that people kind of had to put up with,” Mackenzie told Times Radio, adding: “It’s like he never really grew up or was never properly supervised and was told he “You should pay attention to what he says.”

She said Wallace and his former co-host John Torode “act very differently” when the cameras aren’t rolling.

“I observed that when the cameras were turned off, they went to different ends of the room. They didn’t really communicate or connect outside of the screen.”

What allegations does Wallace face?

Wallace resigned MasterChef amid allegations of inappropriate sexual comments from 13 people who worked with him on various shows over a 17-year period.

Those accusing wrongdoing include former ones News evening Presenter Kirsty Wark, who claimed Mr Wallace told “sexualised” jokes while filming “a”. Celebrity Master Chef episode in 2011.
