The main starter returns after a long injury for Grizzlies vs. Pacers

The Memphis Grizzlies and Indiana Pacers will play their first game in their regular season series shortly today. While both teams’ starting eleven are seriously injured, one team receives last-minute help.

The Grizzlies will be missing key starting center Zach Edey in today’s matchup against the Pacers. Luckily, Brandon Clarke did a fantastic job replacing him during the team’s five-game winning streak.

The Indiana Pacers announced that guard Andrew Nembhard will return from a 12-game knee injury today against the Grizzlies. In seven games this season, Nembhard averaged 7.3 points, 4.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds on 39/23/80 shooting from the field. The Pacers have officially announced his return.

This season is only the third of Nembhard’s career and he was expected to make a solid jump. So far he’s averaging fewer points and shooting worse than his usual career average, but given the small sample size, expect that number to increase.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won five of the last six games against the Indiana Pacers, with the Pacers winning their last game on January 28, 2024. Memphis is a much different team than the injury-plagued team of last season.

The Memphis Grizzlies and Indiana Pacers meet at 3:30 p.m. EST.
