CHARI. THAT’S CORRECT. I spent the whole day going through his story. MCDANIEL was halfway through his three-year suspended sentence when these crimes were committed last month. I sat down this afternoon with District Attorney LYNNEICE WASHINGTON of JEFFERSON COUNTY, BESSEMER to ask her about the previous cases that have occurred in BESSEMER. MCDANIEL started FALLS here at BESSEMER-CUTOFF a few years ago. He was put on probation. He had a split sentence. DAMIEN MCDANIEL is currently facing 25 charges following a 72-hour prison sentence. He is accused of killing six people and injuring 20 others. BUT HIS CRIMINAL HISTORY STARTED YEARS BEFORE, WHEN HE WAS ONLY 17 YEARS OLD. IN 2019, MCDANIEL WAS ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER IN BESSEMER. DAMIEN MCDANIELS pleaded guilty in 2023 to two counts of attempted murder and under the BESSEMER CUTOFF JURISDICTION. In that case, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but was released after two. MCDANIELS WAS GIVEN THREE YEARS PROBATION, PART OF THE CONDITIONS OF HER PROBATION? One should not be near hurtful and malicious people, near disreputable places, or near people of bad character. WASHINGTON SAYS THEY FILED A MOTION TO REVOKE PAROLE LAST WEEK. We have filed a motion to revoke his probation based on things seen on social media. He violated at least two of these conditions. FOLLOWING MCDANIELS’ latest arrest, Washington says they discovered even more ways he violated his probation while executing the warrant. Weapons and marijuana were found in his possession. WHY WAS MCDANIEL RELEASED? I found out after pleading guilty. A judge suspended 13 years of that 15-year sentence. He also received credit for time served, which made him eligible for parole and release. MCDANIEL is behind bars tonight with no chance of being saved from his trial. Records show these victims were killed in a shooting at a Birmingham event center in July 2024.

McDaniel is also charged in the September 2024 mass shooting in Birmingham’s Five Points South neighborhood that left four people dead and more than a dozen others injured.

There are currently no dates set for a hearing.
