DC Senior Jurter Rainey Brandt denied the so -called defense application In Limine The victim’s mother prevent it from testifying in an early phase of the procedure. .

Demonte Gibson, 27, Tre’quan Nelson, 25, and Asani Forte, 26, Are Chared with first-Degree Premeditated Murder While Armed, Conspiracy, Assault with Kill While Armed, Assault With a Dangery Weapon, Three Counts of Possession of a Firearing During A Crime Of Violence, and Destruction of Property, for their Alleged Involvement in the Murder of 34-Year-Old Delonte King That Occurred on Nov. 3, 2021, on the 2800 Block of 14th Street, NW.

Gibson’s defender, Kevann Gardner, submitted the application to complain about the next Kin, the mother of the king, because he testified in relation to the kind of person he was. The lawyers of Nelson and Forte joined this movement with Gardner. The defense or prosecution in this matter was neither made further statements.

After reviewing the application, Richter Brandt concluded that the testimony of the next relative was important to build up the case of the public prosecutor’s office and need the scope.

In addition, the public prosecutor mentioned that some witnesses of the defense were the members of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) who were involved in the earlier arrests of King and wanted to exclude statements that were able to spray the victim’s character.

Judge Brandt said she did not know how the defense will argue her case. If self -defense is an argument, the defense may present these witnesses and also explains that the public prosecutor has the chance to refute an argument of the defense.

The jury should take place in the next few days.
