The nonprofit organization Heroes Hope helps homeless veterans get back on their feet

One veteran, Ronnie Rollins, was homeless and found the help he needed to get back on his feet.

The non-profit organization Heroes Hope provided him with a place to stay and something he could rely on.

“If you continue to put your left foot in front of your right and keep your head up, you’ll eventually get out of the situation you’re in,” Rollins said.

Rollins faced his own situation. For ten years, he and his family barely made ends meet from month to month and eventually became homeless.

“My family was sleeping in our car,” Rollins said. “I tell everyone that you are one decision away from becoming homeless. I don’t care who you are, what you do, how much money you make. Bad decisions can happen.” Make you homeless overnight.

He remained resilient and put one foot in front of the other, but decided to take a bigger step.

Sean Lord and Heroes Hope helped him.

“The joy that comes in that moment knowing that we’ve built a support team for these guys before they walk in the door, that’s what we’re all about,” Lord said.

“People need help,” Rollins said. “These are difficult times. The number of homeless people is growing and growing. The veterans come back with post-traumatic stress disorder and don’t know how to re-enter society. Heroes Hope is actually a solution, not a band-aid.” .”

Heroes Hope provides veterans like Rollins experiencing homelessness with things like housing, financial assistance, mentoring and emotional support.

“Sean was someone who responded the same day,” Rollins said. “It wasn’t a bunch of bureaucracy. He didn’t care what you did wrong, what bad decision you made, he didn’t care about that.” Where you were in your life, he cared about where you would be and how you would move forward.

Ronnie now owns his own security company. Heroes Hope is always looking for volunteers. You can sign up on their website or click here.
