The Oklahoma quarterback who led the upset over Alabama is reportedly entering the transfer portal

According to multiple reports, Oklahoma starting quarterback Jackson Arnold will enter the NCAA transfer portal next week.

Arnold passed for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns with three interceptions while rushing for 444 yards and three scores in 10 games (nine starts) for the Sooners in 2024. He briefly lost his starting spot to freshman Michael Hawkins, but regained it in late October and led Oklahoma to a 6-6 regular season finish.

Arnold was a 5-star recruit out of Guyer High School in Denton, Texas in 2023 and played in seven games as a true freshman. The Sooners’ coaches had so much confidence in him that they allowed two-year starter Dillon Gabriel to transfer to Oregon, where he led the Ducks to a 12-0 record and No. 1 ranking ahead of Saturday’s Big Ten championship game against Penn the national rankings helped state.

Arnold threw seven touchdown passes in Oklahoma’s first three games this season before being benched in favor of Hawkins in a loss to Tennessee on Sept. 21. He returned to the lineup three weeks later against South Carolina and led a 24–3 upset against Alabama at the end of the year, in which he rushed for a career-high 131 yards.

Oklahoma awaits its bowl assignment, which will be announced Sunday.
