Comprehensive Directory Aims to Eliminate Health Disparities in Black Communities | Nnationwide – In a significant step toward reducing health disparities and increasing access to quality health care for Black communities across the United States, Find a Black Doctor now has listings of board-certified health care professionals in all 50 states. This expansion ensures that individuals seeking culturally competent care can easily find experienced and qualified Black physicians, dentists, psychologists and other health care providers.

The expansion of the registry comes at a crucial time as Black communities continue to be disproportionately affected by health disparities. The platform fills an important need by providing a trusted and comprehensive directory of healthcare professionals who understand and are committed to addressing the unique healthcare needs of Black patients.

The website was founded with the aim of bridging the gap in access to healthcare. It offers a user-friendly interface that allows patients to search for providers based on their location and specific healthcare needs. The site contains detailed profiles of doctors, dentists, psychologists and other specialists. The entries are free of charge for doctors. The website also contains content aimed at improving health and health literacy.

The expansion of the directory is also in response to the growing demand for Black health care providers who can eliminate systemic bias and ensure equitable treatment. Studies have shown that patients often experience better health outcomes when treated by providers who share the same racial or ethnic background. By connecting patients with Black healthcare professionals, whether in Atlanta or Alaska, the site works to improve these outcomes and build trust within the Black community.

Founder Dr. Dina Strachan, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, notes, “Despite our technological advances, it can now be harder to find what you’re looking for online.” And having traveled to all 50 states myself, I understand the challenges are many “We have become even more aware of the problems that access brings with it in our vast country.”

The team encourages the community to submit suggestions for Black physicians to be included in the directory. They also encourage physicians to submit their own practices or those of colleagues for a free listing. There is great interest in supporting practicing physicians.

As the site continues to grow, it remains true to its mission of ensuring that every Black person in America has access to the best healthcare possible.
