The Packers will be asked to bench the struggling playmaker in order to make the playoffs

The Green Bay Packers beat the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving night. With a big matchup with the Detroit Lions coming up, they may need to make some changes to who they put on the field. The Packers are 9-3 and in third place in the NFC North.

While FanSided’s Chris Landers listed players the Packers need to bench to catch the Detroit Lions and advance to the playoffs, he urged the team to bench Dontayvion Wicks.

“At this point, Matt LaFleur should have seen what he needed to see with Wicks,” Landers wrote. “He hasn’t broken 40 yards in over a month, and Green Bay can’t trust him to make the simple plays 100 percent. Jayden Reed and Christian Watson are the clear 1-2 in the pecking order here, and Bo Melton and Malik Heath deserve more snaps as complementary pieces as long as Wicks makes him hard to trust.”

Romeo Doubs’ absence should have been an opportunity for Wicks to turn things around. However, he continued to struggle with a big fall that was almost broken. Wicks has rushed for 247 yards this season while catching less than half of his targets. Much like Davante Adams, Wicks’ second season in the league will be a season to remember. He is still one of the best blockers on the team, which earns him snaps.

“Wicks caught four balls for 30 yards, and he remains a very willing blocker in the Packers’ varied running game,” Landers wrote. “But on the outside, he remains incredibly inconsistent: Once again, Wicks was responsible for a brutal drop in this game when he allowed himself to be hit in the chest by a pass from Jordan Love in the first quarter and almost ended up in the arms of a Dolphins defender. to intercept him.” “
