The Philadelphia Eagles will play without quarterback Jalen Hurts on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

The former Alabama star was checked for a concussion in the second quarter of Philadelphia’s 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday and did not return to the game. Hurts did not practice this week and on Friday the Eagles reported that he was out for Sunday’s NFC East game against Dallas.

Including the playoffs, Hurts had started 36 consecutive games for Philadelphia.

Since Hurts became Philadelphia’s established starting quarterback at the start of the 2021 season, the Eagles have a 45-17 record in regular-season games in which he has started and a 1-3 record in games in which he has not started .

Kenny Pickett took Hurts’ place against Washington. Pickett completed 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards with one touchdown and one interception and ran three times for 13 yards as the Eagles’ 10-game winning streak ended.

Pickett, a first-round draft pick in 2022, started 24 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the last two seasons. The Eagles received Pickett in March.

Pickett suffered a rib injury against the Commanders and Philadelphia’s injury report listed the quarterback as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Friday and a full participant on Thursday.

With a record of 12-3, the Eagles have already secured their spot in the NFC playoffs. After playing the Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at noon CST on Sunday, the Eagles will conclude their regular season schedule with a home game against the New York Giants on January 5th.
