The Pittsburgh Steelers need a return and you need to need speed

The Running Room by Pittsburgh Steelers needs help. With Najee Harris now with the Los Angeles Chargers, the room will enter some well -known faces in some larger roles and new faces who are trying to start.

At the moment, the room consists of three-year-old participants Jaylen Warren, who on the deep card, the experienced veteran Cordarrelle Patterson, the new addition of Kenneth Gainwell, the special team with Jonathan Ward and other deep players in Aaron Shampklin and Evan Hull.

This room has to add someone, and the Steelers have shown great interest in withdrawing on the Pro Day Trail and when visiting their preliminary draft. So far, five running backs have been reported to Pittsburgh, and the Pro Day Trail shows interest in Trevor Etienne, Ashton Jeanty, Treveyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins.

What the five players visit is Bhayshul Tuten, Dylan Sampson, DJ Giddens, Jaydon Blue and Ollie Gordon. The Steelers have a common interest in all these players – speed.

Gordon is the only one who ran lower than a 4.48 40-yard fitting board and was classified at 4.61. Janty has not tested, but he shows the elite -long speed on tape. Outside of Judkins, Jeanty and Gordon, all other players ran lower than a 4.45 40-yard fittings board.

Four of them ran Sub 4.4, and all the players tested well apart from Jeanty in the vertical and broad jumps. The Steelers do not hide their interest in return and what they want. It is speed and explosiveness.

It feels like the polar opposite of Harris, who was a crunched power back. Some backs have speed and a larger frame, while other real speed back in zones are.

The Steelers still lack a perfect fit for their wide zone program under Arthur Smith. It certainly looks like you are using this selection to give your room this speed and explosiveness. If Pittsburgh wants to be a running team, the running back room needs speed and explosiveness to maximize efficiency.

In 2024, the Steelers had only 11 runs of 20 or more meters. However, this is largely the league average, but the Steelers must be at the top of the league, especially since they had fourth place in Rushing’s attempts. The NFL design seems to enable the Steelers to add this speed and explosiveness in their running game.
