FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested the president of a used car dealer in Koga City and five others for allegedly assaulting and seriously injuring a former employee.

The incident occurred at the company’s office between about 7 p.m. on November 26 and shortly after 9 a.m. two days later, police said, according to NHK (November 28).

During that time, Yoji Terasaki, the dealership’s 49-year-old president, and five employees between the ages of 20 and 40 allegedly imprisoned the 41-year-old former employee on the second floor by binding his hands and feet with zip ties.

They also allegedly attacked him with a metal bat, causing serious injuries, including a broken bone under one of his eyes.

Police have not revealed whether the six confessed to the crimes, saying that information would hinder the investigation.

During the attack, the suspects kept a lookout. As he fell asleep, the former employee emailed his family asking for help. Police, who rushed to the scene following a call from a family member, arrested the six people present there.

According to the police, a financial dispute arose between the former employee and the company. Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
