The science fiction role-playing game “Find the Impostor” Gnosia is set to receive an anime adaptation in 2025

Aniplex has just announced that it will be adapting the Japanese indie gem Gnosia into an anime. The new series is scheduled to air on Japanese television in 2025. A teaser video (see below) and images were released along with the announcement.

Gnosia is a single-player deduction game developed by Japanese indie studio Petit Depotto. It was first released in 2019 for the PlayStation Vita and was subsequently released on Steam and modern consoles. In Gnosia, you are a member of a crew drifting in a spaceship caught in a time loop. Your goal is to find out which member of the crew is the Gnosia, a mysterious and deadly threat pretending to be human, and eliminate them before they kill everyone and take over the spaceship.

The roles switch between the 15-minute rounds of the game, and sometimes you take on the role of Gnosia yourself. Gameplay is about discussing with other characters, analyzing what they say, and finding out the culprit. As you play multiple rounds, your character will level up and gain stat increases, making it easier to influence the flow of conversation in your favor.

Gnosia gameplay

At the time of writing, Gnosia has a very positive status on Steam, with 94% of the 2,593 reviews being positive. The game also won first place at the Dengeki Indie Awards in 2022. Perhaps thanks to its positive reception, the game was selected for an anime adaptation by the producers at Aniplex. The Gnosia anime promises to capture the game’s thrilling “spot the impostor” showdowns, charming cast of characters, and repeating timeline.

According to a comment from Petit Depot representative Toru Kawakatsu, the Gnosia development team is fully involved in the production of the anime.
