FLINT, MI – The second man accused in the 2011 murder of Andrea Eilber in Lapeer County will have to wait for a new jury trial to begin.

Chadwick Mobley’s trial was originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Dec. 3, before District Court Judge Michael Nolan will not begin this week.

A new start date has not yet been set, Mobley’s attorney Frederick Miller told MLive-The Flint Journal.

Miller did not give a reason for the delay.

Attorneys will meet for a status conference on Friday, Dec. 6, according to court records.

Mobley, who is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated murder and aggravated firearms offenses, was identified as a suspect after Kenneth Grondin, the victim’s girlfriend, had his conviction overturned by the Michigan Court of Appeals.

He has been incarcerated in the Lapeer County Jail since June 2023.

Mobley was charged after newly tested DNA evidence led police to believe he was a suspect.

DNA found on a cigarette butt collected at the crime scene was a match for Mobley, according to affidavits obtained by MLive/The Flint Journal.

Mobley pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in July 2023.
