The Southeast Region Winter Feeding Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for December 10

Members of the Southeast Region Winter Feeding Advisory Committee (WFAC) will meet on December 10 at 6 p.m. to assist Idaho Fish and Game in assessing winter conditions and observations related to big game animals (movement, depredation, road activity, body). conditions, mortality) in the southeast region.

The committee is made up of five area citizens whose input helps inform Fish and Game’s winter feeding decisions.

Committee members meet several times each winter to monitor local weather, wildlife distribution and landscape conditions. Committee members also serve as sounding boards for citizens in their communities and communicate regularly with Fish and Game staff.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting in person or drop by. Please note, however, that meeting rules do not allow the public to comment or ask questions during the meeting. The public is welcome to submit comments to WFAC members or the Idaho Fish and Game at any time prior to convening a meeting.

  • Dan Garren, IDFG regional director, explains the purpose of the WFAC committee and the guidelines and decision-making process for winter emergency feeding.
  • IDFG staff are sharing data and information about deer/elk moving in this winter: winter conditions in general compared to this time last year, body condition of the animals, predator issues, efforts to address conflicts so far this fall and winter, etc.
