The stock markets close deep into red on the second day of Trump’s tariffs. Sensex 930 points, NIFTY DOWN 345

The stock exchange crashed on Friday during the trading session, with metal, pharmaceutical and energy shares decreasing the most. The indices closed deep into the red on the second day of trading since the tariffs of US President Donald Trump came into force.

The benchmark BSE Sensex closed 930.67 points or 1.22% into the red and reached 75,364.69. The wider NSE -NIFTY set 345.65 points or 1.49% in red and reached 22,904.45.

Which stocks fell the most?

Tata Steel fell the most by 8.36%under the Sensex shares and closed £140.80. This was followed by Tata Motors, which fell by 5.92%and closes £615.30 and Larsen & Toubro, which fell 4.69%to close £3,258.40.

Only seven of the 30 Sensex shares were in the green.

How have individual sectors developed?

Among the sophisticated sectoral indices, the nice metal index fell 6.56%the most and reached 8,414.45. This was followed by the NIFTY Pharma index, which declined by 4.03%and reached 20,560.00, and the NIFTY OIL & GAS index, which fell by 3.78%and reached 10.134.10.

The pharmaceutical shares, which initially performed well, followed today after Trump announced that the tariffs will also respond to pharmaceuticals at levels that have not yet been seen. So far, pharmaceuticals have not been exposed to the tariffs.

The oil and gas index fell at a time when global oil prices also drop. The Benchmark Brent Rohrochte fell by 3.34% or $ 2.34 for contracts in June 2025 and acted by $ 67.80 per barrel, while WTI raw oil was 3.58% or $ 2.40 for May 2025 and reached $ 64.55 by barrel.

How is the stock exchange open today?

The stock exchange became lower today so that they fell the most, metal and telecommunications stocks.

At 9.15 a.m., the Benchmark BSE Sensex was 325.14 points or 0.43 percent and reached 75,970.22. The wider NSE NIFTY opened in red by 119.35 points or 0.51 percent and reached 23,130.75.

Infosys fell most at the opening of the 30 Sensex shares by 2.14 percent and acted with the trade £1.465. HCL technologies followed, which had decreased by 1.67 percent £1,446.30 and Indusind Bank, which had dropped by 1.52 percent £698.60.

Only five of the Sensex shares were in the green.

Among the nice sectoral indices, the IT index fell most by 1.86 percent and reached 34,112.05. Nifty Metal, which declined by 1.28 percent and 8,889.85 and Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom, decreased by 1.05 percent, and reached 8,808.30.

The MID Small IT and the telecommunications index fell the most in yesterday’s openings of 1.94 percent and reached 9,055.90, while the IT index decreased by 1.67 percent and reached 35,676.45.
