‘The Summer Hikaru Died’ Reveals Netflix Streaming, Teaser Trailer and More

Summer Hikaru has died Anime has received a teaser trailer and a teaser visual. It was also announced that Netflix will stream the horror drama worldwide and that TV broadcasts in Japan will begin in summer 2025.

The main staff and cast were also announced. Ryohei Takeshita (Director of Jellyfish cannot swim at night And Eromanga Sensei) leads and supervises the series composition CygamesImages. The character designs and main animation direction are the responsibility of Yuichi Takahashi (Macross Frontier character designer), while Masanobu Hiraoka (Chainsaw Man Ending 9 (storyboard artist, unit director, animator and editor) is referred to as the Dorodoro animator.

Chiaki Kobayashi voices the protagonist Yoshiki Tsujinaka, during Shuichiro Umeda is the eponymous Hikaru Indou.

Summer Hikaru has died is based on the manga published by KADOKAWA Mokumokuren. The serialization of the manga on the Young Ace Up website began in August 2021 and will release its sixth tankoubon volume on December 4th.

Yen Press describes its premise as follows:

It has Hikaru’s face. It has Hikaru’s voice. It even has Hikaru’s memories. But whatever came down from the mountains six months ago isn’t Yoshiki’s best friend. Whatever it is, it’s dangerous. Carrying on in school and hanging around as if nothing had changed – as if Hikaru wasn’t gone – would be crazy… but when it looks so much like Hikaru… and acts so much like Hikaru…
