The terrifying horror film RoboShark is now streaming on Prime Video

Roboshark is now streaming Prime Video. If you’re new to the film, there’s probably a good reason for that. If you’ve heard about it, why would you want to go back there again? Yes Roboshark is exactly what it sounds like, a SyFy special that falls into the “so bad it’s really bad” category that so many shark-sploitation films fall into. Now Prime Video is hosting the absurd film, so anyone missing a dose of mindless, bad CGI nonsense can get their money’s worth.

First aired in 2015 on SyFy during Shark Week, Roboshark makes an appearance from a shark that has been – surprise! – Robotically enhanced after eating an alien probe. That’s right, not only is it a ridiculous shark movie, it’s also an alien movie. Now harboring alien life, the new Roboshark embarks on a journey of destruction through Seattle en route to a showdown at one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. As you’ve probably guessed, this all results in incredible CGI effects and acting you probably wouldn’t put on your resume.

For this reason, RoboShark has a low – but not entirely disastrous, given the nature of the film – Popcorn Meter score of 20% on Rotten Tomatoes. No critic has gotten around to actually writing a review for the film… so make of that what you will. It’s clear from audience reviews that everyone who saw this film had some idea of what they were going to get – but even that wasn’t enough to give it a positive review.

How bad is RoboShark?

RoboShark There are only 9 reviews, and in most cases those who took the time to comment either love it because it’s so bad or they hate it because it’s so bad. To highlight the crazy nature of the film and the people who reviewed it, a five-star review by Madeline L states:

“This movie is terrible, it’s so bad and so good. The film is worse than Jaws 3, but much more entertaining. I laughed, I cried, I laughed until I cried and I can’t believe this exists. It made my weekend and I’m so glad I saw it. Roboshark is more similar to Roboshark. Seriously, check it out 12/10.

While it was Steven Spielberg’s Jaw This has turned the killer shark storyline into its own cinematic genre, the extensive list of over-the-top shark-based films now being so full of films like: Sharknado, Sharktopus And Two-headed shark attackthat it would be virtually impossible to make such a simple and frightening film Jaw again and again. And it’s not just low-budget films that have proven this.

The Best Shark Attack Movies (That Aren’t Jaws)

Jaws is perhaps the most famous shark attack film series, but many other notable, related films have also been made.

Jason Statham has appeared in two financially successful shark films The Meg And The Meg 2but their ratings were just as bad as any of SyFy’s cheap and cheerful offerings. Even more recently, this year the French film Under Paris became one of the most streamed films on Netflix and even received the endorsement of the mighty Stephen King. However, this film somehow managed to please many critics (Tomatometer rating 63%) but not the audience (30% rating). Maybe in the end, people just want to see a big shark causing death and destruction in the most ridiculous ways. If that’s you, then RoboShark will definitely hit the mark.
