CM Punk has a vision for 2025 and will compete at the WWE Royal Rumble in 2025 for a chance to headline WrestleMania. Meanwhile, Jeff Hardy stated that he is interested in revisiting his popular feud with The Second City Saint.
In 2009, CM Punk and Jeff Hardy engaged in a heated feud that, in various instances, blurred the line between fiction and reality. The storyline was one of the most talked about in the industry and fans have fondly viewed it as the highlight of Punk and Hardy’s careers in WWE.
Recently, Jeff Hardy spoke about wanting to retire CM Punk and induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. The statement caused a stir, and Hardy made some statements. In an interview with Chris Van VlietThe former WWE and two-time world heavyweight champion explained what he meant in the previous interview.
More importantly, he wants to revisit his previous feud with The Second City City and expects their paths to cross in AEW, which hasn’t happened. Interestingly, he also spoke of reversing roles if a feud were to break out.
“But yeah, the reality is it could happen because of our feud. I still get so many compliments on that from people who are grown up now. ‘Oh man, you and Punk, that feud was great.’ Even in AEW, I felt like there was a moment for me and Punk, at least just some sort of confrontation or awkward feeling, like we were running into each other backstage or something,” Hardy said.
He added:
“But we never managed that. But ultimately, I’d like to revisit this feud somehow, and who knows. “CM Punk is such a superpower in the pro wrestling game, but when Jeff Hardy gets sober, he becomes a superhero.” **Hole. I mean, come on, let Jeff Hardy face off against the only popular CM Punk, I think that’s entirely possible,” Hardy explained. (H/T – CVV)
Jeff Hardy left WWE after losing to CM Punk in 2009
The feud between The Charismatic Enigma and The Second City Saint began when CM Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank contract with Jeff Hardy to win the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules in 2009.
Over the coming months, both exchanged victories and the prestigious title before ending their feud on SmackDown. In their last encounter, Punk defeated Hardy in a steel cage match, which was then Jeff Hardy’s final match for the WWE.
A few years later, Hardy returned with his brother and had a good run before both left the promotion in 2021.
