The two-time pipe master reveals the cruel torture and murder of his father and his criminal life in a tell-all book

In a new book entitled The exterior, Writing with his pal Jeremy Goring, Lazza says his father, bank robber Frank “Baldy” Blair, was part of a gang that stole nearly six hundred gees in an armored van heist, one of the largest robberies in Australian history . The robbery served as inspiration for the 1978 film Money moverDirected by two-time Oscar winner Bruce Beresford.

Larry’s mother Patricia was one hell of a jewelry thief and he says she kept the family together while staying one step ahead of his father’s friends who wanted to kill him for his share of the money.

In the end they caught him.

Larry says his father’s body was dissolved in a vat of acid and buried at Sydney Airport.

In the midst of all this, Larry honed his surfing and when a scam with his mother was thwarted at fifteen, he hopped on a plane to Hawaii.

Five years later he won the Coke Surfboard in Manly, followed by victories at the Pipe Masters in 1978 and 1979.
