The warm-up comes to Central Florida. That’s how long it will last

ORLANDO, Fla. – Winds picking up from the sea on Friday will boost a warming trend that is expected to last into next week.

Temperatures will gradually rise as the sun rises, reaching highs of up to 70 degrees Friday afternoon. A few clouds will bring scattered to isolated showers throughout the day, especially from midday onwards as moisture accumulates from the sea.

Northeast winds will be steady at 10-15 mph inland and 15-20 mph along the coast, increasing to 20-25 mph in the afternoon. After sunset, expect temperatures to drop to the upper 50s to lower 60s inland, but remain in the mid to upper 60s near the coast.

WEEKEND:

Beach conditions will only become more dangerous as the weekend begins. There is a high risk of life-threatening rip currents today, as well as high surf and a small craft warning.

The surf will be dangerous, with waves reaching 6 to 9 feet in height. It’s definitely not a weekend for swimming as dangerous rip currents are expected, along with the possibility of mild to moderate beach erosion due to the long-lasting waves that will continue over the weekend and into next week.

Scattered showers are expected along the coast on Saturday, spreading inland over the weekend as the atmosphere continues to become wetter. Despite the additional clouds, temperatures will continue to warm, reaching the mid to upper 70s both days.

Saturday morning is expected to be cooler, with temperatures dipping into the upper 50s inland, while Sunday morning temperatures will start in the 60s in most locations.

NEXT WEEK:

The forecast for the following week is a bit tricky as weather models don’t fully agree on the pattern after Monday. The forecast will depend heavily on how severe the next cold front will be. Model trends will deviate by about 10 to 20 degrees over the next week, depending on which scenario plays out.

Highs are expected to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s early next week, but the situation will become more uncertain as we enter Thursday.
