The WWE ID program is a long-term investment for the entire wrestling industry

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque says the company is taking the long view with its new WWE ID program. Whether or not that means they are the beneficiary of their investment in an up-and-coming talent.

Wrestlers enrolled in the WWE Independent Development Program receive financial support to help them overcome the pitfalls of performing on the indie circuit, as well as a pathway through WWE-approved promotional and training facilities.

WWE ID isn’t all that different from the company’s NIL program, which is designed to help college athletes transition into professional wrestling.

During Saturday night’s Survivor Series press conference, Levesque said they also wanted to help the future WWE Superstars who were interested in professional wrestling from the start.

“There is… a group of men and women out there who, for whatever reason, have found their way into professional wrestling. Whether after college, before college, whatever it is. They took a different path than college athletes.” We don’t want to negate any of them. “The independent scene is very difficult,” said Triple H. “It’s a long, hard road. We’re trying to make this easier. We try to pay attention to the people who are at the top of that list. The people who have the most potential within this group. We will support.” We will support them financially in their careers as long as they continue to develop.

Levesque provided more details on the WWE ID program itself, saying that talent who have signed a contract will send their recorded matches to the company for feedback and tips for improvement. In addition to access to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

WWE will also provide promotional support through social media content to help wrestling fans get to know the stars of tomorrow.

“They will remain in our system until it is time for them to grow out of this system. If not, we will take action and redeploy some people, and we will reach the people where we believe a long-term investment can be worthwhile.” Not only for us, but also for the industry itself. The strength of our company is based on the strength of the athletes in all areas When you look at NXT you see it is a system that produces athletes, incredible athletes, at a very fast pace. This is another way for us to strengthen this independent scene.

According to Wrestling Observer, WWE has the right of first refusal if a wrestler signed under the WWE ID program is offered a contract by AEW or another competing promotion. This means the company could sign them to a deal to bring them to NXT or allow them to make a deal elsewhere.
