LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Winter arrives in Lubbock today, bringing with it the possibility of light snow and thunderstorms on the Caprock. Skies are expected to clear this afternoon with a few days of sunshine. Highs will reach the 30s in most areas.

Nighttime temperatures will remain cool with lows around 20°C and cloudy weather.

Thursday promises to be more active, with a mix of snow and rain possible throughout the day. Snowfall will begin in the morning primarily in areas west and southwest of Lubbock, with snow accumulations expected to be around half an inch in most areas. Temperatures should rise slightly above freezing by Thursday afternoon, with a rain/snow mix possible in some areas off the Caprock.
