There is much more to discover in Greece, says the Prime Minister at the conference

Visitors to Greece should familiarize themselves with more destinations in the country, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, as 2024 is expected to be another record year for tourism.

Speaking on Friday at the third “Greece Talks” conference entitled “Identity, Future and the Traveler,” Mitsotakis also emphasized that Athens has become a year-round tourism destination.

In a conversation with Monocle magazine editor Andrew Tuck, Mitsotakis said that people visiting Greece need to enjoy a unique and inexpensive experience that compels them to come back to discover new destinations.

He underlined the sector’s contribution to the economy, pointing out that tourism revenues exceeded 20 billion euros last year, although he expects this figure to likely increase even further this year.

Referring to Greek hospitality, the prime minister said that unlike other destinations this summer, “there have been no incidents of local communities in Greece attacking tourists, and I don’t even expect something like that to happen.” .”

The Prime Minister also explained that there are small businesses in Greece that can be very successful by offering quality tourism services. Greece’s natural heritage appears to support new trends as people seek new and authentic experiences, he added.

New destinations on mainland Greece are already being promoted, he said, pointing out that in addition to summer destinations, the country also has great winter destinations. He also pointed to Greece’s vibrant food and music scene and the country’s rich cultural heritage.
