Thieves use construction equipment to steal ATMs in Puyallup

A group of thieves are on the run this weekend after police in Puyallup say they successfully stole an ATM.

Just before 9 a.m. Saturday morning, Puyallup police said they responded to a theft in the 1500 block of East Main Street.

According to PPD, witnesses saw the thieves destroy the structure housing the ATM and then load it into a pickup truck with stolen construction equipment. The excavator was picked up from a nearby location near the 400 block of Rover Road in Puyallup, according to police.

Officers were able to locate and follow the suspects by pursuing an older, black Ford F-350 as the driver was reportedly weaving in and out of oncoming traffic in a reckless manner.

As they approached the Sunmer city limits, officers broke off the pursuit and the suspects escaped.

Now police are asking the public to contact them if they have any further information about the robbery or if they have dashcams that caught the driver of the truck or excavator passing them.

If you have any information or video footage from the crime scene or the excavator on the road, please contact Puyallup Police at 253 770-3343 or email [email protected].
