The oldest house in Boynton Beach, “Andrew’s House,” is slated for demolition

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The oldest home in Boynton Beach, the Andrew’s House, is scheduled to be demolished Monday, marking the end of an era for the historic property.

According to the Boynton Beach Historical Society, the vernacular frame house was built in 1907 by Dutch pioneer Bert Kapp and served as a home for years and was eventually preserved and restored for use as a museum before closing in 2011.

The Andrews House has been a part of the Boynton Beach landscape for more than a century. Less than two decades ago, the house underwent a major renovation that restored it to its former glory and modernized it for modern use. Despite these efforts, the property’s fate was sealed due to changing priorities and development pressures, according to Palm Beach County author and historian Ginger Pederson. PhD
