Around 15,000 people went to the streets of Central Amsterdam on Saturday afternoon and march against racism and fascism.

The demonstrators gathered on the Dam Square in the center of the city to hear music and speeches before they went through the streets from Amsterdam to the museumnlein.

This year, the annual protest also dealt with the increasing danger of fascism around the world. Many participants expressed concerns about the current Trump management in the USA.

“Right -wing extremist nationalism has a clear agenda: a society in which discrimination is normalized and people are assessed according to their origin, LGBTQI+, disability, religion or skin color,” said the committee in a press release.

“The story has taught us that an authoritarian regime ultimately affects anyone who deviates from his” truth “. We cannot allow this.”

Several members of the crowd wore anti -donald -Trump sign, and one promoted a petition to prevent him from participating in the upcoming NATO summit in the Hague in June.

Other signs were enough of “Nobody’s Free until everyone is free” and one against Elon Musk with the inscription “You can bring your fascism to Mars”.

The editor Sonja Aalbers (49) told the Paroy that the Second World War began when things go. “I’m worried about developments in the Netherlands and all over the world,” she said.

“People are marginalized, based on who they are and where they come from. Asylum seekers are blamed for the real estate crisis, and if they say that often enough, people will start to believe them.”

Former teacher Pauline Bardoul (61) told The Parole that it was the first time that she had such a great demonstration. “I had to do something now,” she said. “I reject discrimination and racism and want to see a fair democracy … but things are not going well. I am concerned and these worries are only bigger.”
