Three Dukes take home all-district academic honors

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Three James Madison volleyball students were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Jaydyn Clemmer, Rented VeldmanAnd Julia McNeley were named All-District, which recognizes outstanding achievements on and off the field. Clemmer and Veldman were named to the team for the third time, while McNeley picked up her first nod.

To be eligible for All-District honors, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.50 or better and participate in at least 90% of the institution’s games OR have started at least 66% of the institution’s games.

Clemmer, a senior libero from Lexington, Virginia, finished her JMU career ranked fourth in career digs (1,401) and seventh in digs per set (3.40). The health sciences major recorded 386 digs in 100 sets played (3.86 per set), leading the Dukes’ defense in the back row.

Veldman, who earned a degree in business administration from JMU, finished her five-year JMU career ranked fourth in career kills (1,488) and kills per set (3.60). The outside hitter from Daleville, Virginia, collected 186 kills (2.38/set) while hitting injuries in 2024.

As a junior, McNeley managed 252 digs while averaging 2.74 digs per set for his career. The communications major played in 92 sets and 25 games for JMU in 2024 and also picked up 28 service aces.
