Three people have been charged after 5 pounds of meth and other drugs were found in a car in Claiborne County

CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Three people have been charged after a traffic stop found five pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs in a car, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators stopped a car Monday on Highway 33 north of Lone Mountain Road after receiving information from an APLR (Automated License Plate Reader) about a car belonging to a person who had outstanding felony convictions was sought.

CCSO’s K-9 Kira was deployed and the sheriff’s office said it alerted investigators that there were narcotics in the car.

After searching the car, CCSO said about five pounds of methamphetamine was found, along with “a quantity” of cocaine, mushrooms and three handguns.

Katelyn Boatright, 27, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, was arrested on a warrant and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for resale
  • Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine) for resale
  • Possession of more than 2,000 grams of methamphetamine for resale
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (three counts)
  • Possession of a firearm while committing a dangerous crime
  • Criminal conspiracy

Additionally, two other people in the car were arrested and charged with:

22-year-old Bryson Hatfield of Middlesboro, Kentucky

  • Possession of more than 2,000 grams of methamphetamine for resale
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (three counts)
  • Possession of a firearm while committing a dangerous crime
  • Criminal conspiracy
  • Driving with methamphetamine
  • Driving with a suspended/revoked license

21-year-old Braden Greer of Tazewell

  • Possession of more than 2,000 grams of methamphetamine for resale
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (three counts)
  • Possession of a firearm while committing a dangerous crime
  • Criminal conspiracy
