Three things that Phil Parkinson’s try to improve WREXHAM’s poor away form

Wrexhams away record is bad

Wrexham pulled away from home this season and only collected 13 points on the street compared to 38 at home. Phil Parkinson’s men have the best home record in the division, but sit in the lower ranges of the table, based on their misery.

13 points from 12 games are simply not good enough for one side that wants to be promoted and has to change something. Here are three things that the manager could consider when he tries to improve his away record.

Wrexham should give up the possession and play on the counterattack

Wrexham likes to dominate the ball and dictates the game pace. The Wingbacks Ryan Barnett and James McClean were a large part of Wrexham’s success with their dynamics in broad areas within the 3-5-2 formation this season.

Barnett is currently leading the Liga One Assist Charts and often likes to drive that McClean does the same on the other side. This can often be defensively exposed to Wrexham.

Wrexham has achieved three away winners throughout the season, and in two of those against Peterborough and Rotherham, the Red Dragons had less than 40% of the ball.

Parkinson’s team gave up and made it difficult to break before he excluded the counterattack. It worked with both victories that came next to clean leaves.

Wrexham should ask Barnett and McClean to be defensive first to gain a foothold in the game before they achieve a surprise switch for their opponents. It is a formula that has worked in this campaign so far.

Elliot Lee must have freedom, roam

Elliot Lee was a consistent figure in Parkinson’s plans this season and played in different roles. Lee was a striker, a number ten, and even turned back to a more conventional central field of midfield.

Parkinson’s was criticized because he played Lee as a striker against Shrewsbury, and it is clear that the man born in Durham plays a deeper role.

Lee scored six goals and achieved three templates in his 26 appearances this season, but it is no secret that he is better used in a deeper role to give him more creative freedom.

Lee was used this season as ten in all three victories of Wrexham’s away wins, and this formula should return to which Parkinson’s would like to score more points on the street.

Wrexham has to produce more clean leaves

It is easy to say that Wrexham has to score more goals and add less goals to improve your away record, but there is a clear difference between your home and outdoor area.

The way and the time of the admitted gates must also be taken into account for Parkinson’s. His team has to hunt far too often and can often lead to playing players in their thinking.

It is clear that when Wrexham can get the first goal in a game and keep your opponents away, relax and play the kind of football that fans know that they are able to produce.

Parkinson’s will know that there is no clear means to repair the blues of its site.
