Tim Allen’s Shifting Gears Adds Jenna Elfman in a Recurring Role

Jenna Elfman comes home to ABC – And Returning to their sitcom roots.

The Dharma & Greg (And Imaginary Mary) star will recur alongside Tim Allen in the upcoming ABC comedy Changing gearsour sister site Deadline reports.

They play in the half-hour comedy DIYer And Last man standing Veterinarian as Matt, “the stubborn, widowed owner of Parker Customs, a vintage car restoration shop,” according to the official logline. “As Matt’s estranged daughter (played by 2 broken girls Kat Dennings) and her children move into his house real The restoration begins.”

According to Deadline, Elfman will play Eve Drake, “a sultry choreographer and owner of the dance studio across the street from Parker Customs.” (Hmm…could she play Allen’s mistress?)

Allen, Dennings and Elfman are joined by Seann William Scott (American cake) as Gabriel, a family friend who works with Matt at the store; Daryl “Chill” Mitchell (NCIS: New Orleans) as Stitch, a former Marine and fellow mechanic; and Maxwell Simkins (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers) and newcomer Barrett Margolis star as Dennings’ TV children Carter and Georgia.

As previously reported, Michelle Nader, who served as showrunner on Dennings’ last two shows – CBS’. 2 broke girls and Hulus Doll face – will continue to serve in the same capacity Changing gears. Season 1 premieres on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 8/7c, where it leads into the midseason return of Abbott Elementary School (now airing at 8:30 p.m.; see ABC’s full winter schedule here).
