Tim Walz starts the national tour of the town halls in Republican house districts

Tim Walz is back on the street. This time for a tour of domestic areas represented by Republicans who have stopped keeping personal town halls in the middle of the loud receptions, some of their colleagues have come through the country.

The governor of Minnesota and Vice Presidential candidate of 2024 will start on Friday in Iowa in the district, which is represented by Rep. Zach Nunn, and then crossed the border to Nebraska for the district of Rep. The Walz team is planning in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio in the coming weeks.

In view of his national profile after his time on the democratic ticket last year, Walz said that he was obliged to improve.

“There was only an original cry of people who realized what was going on with the Trump administration, their authoritarian tendencies, and what they looked at was a lack of proper response from their representatives,” he told CNN on Wednesday. “It was about these Republican representatives who recognize that this stuff is really unpopular, so they will leave the town halls. These people have to be heard. They have to be heard and to be open with them, the democratic leadership must hear them. ”

Walz’s plans started with a post on X last week and reacted to House Republican leaders who advise their colleagues not to keep the town halls. The Republicans have accused those town halls of being full with paid activists – although those who made such allegations have not provided any evidence or explanations for why the town halls of the democratic members were also gripped.

Walz said he was overwhelmed by the answer to this tweet, and his employees said through what an adjutant said, hundreds of invitations from local party leaders and candidates told him to come. He said he calmed this reaction after he and Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump and JD Vance.

“I have always feared that after this last election they would be apathetic and just check it out, but they don’t,” said Walz.

Apart from the independent Senator of Vermont, Bernie Sanders, who conquered two own fluctuations in the Midwest last month, no large democratic leaders have pushed ahead with similar types of public events. Walz chalked this with his party “tried to find our feet”, but the situation clearly frustrates him.

“I will tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way,” he said, describing the steps of the Trump government to reduce the Ministry of Education as a main example. “I will say how you can mobilize to defend yourself, as I think how I give the most effective options. And I fully expect you to tell me how you are looking for. ”

When the tea party in the 2010 election cycle due to another set of town hall protests, Walz was a congress member in a narrow district who ran for a third term. He won, but this experience was a rough, he said, and he now warned the Republicans to ignore what happens at his own risk.

“I am a catalyst who provides you with a megaphone to raise your voice. And I think that’s what people are looking for, ”he said. “I now understand my responsibility. I have a little more national voice, so I should bring them to you, and I will basically give you the megaphone. ”

But he said that if Democrats are “just a film for Trump, we don’t go to the room we need to let them believe what we stand for.”

After he had deliberately left in the months after the campaign-after a largely low role as running colleagues, which, according to sources, have been designed by the Harris campaign management-Hat Walz in the past few weeks.

Many expect Walz to run as a governor for a third term as a governor next year, and he played the proposal that these efforts laid the basis for a future national run.

“I will do everything to make sure we win in 2008. I don’t have to be on this ticket, ”he told CNN. “This is not my persecution here. My persecution is that I am still in a position in which I have a platform and have something to do something, and when 20 people appear, this is good for me because these 20 people make a difference. This is not about drawing a lot. I will go to states where it doesn’t matter, but it is important for these people. And I’ll do that. ”
