Tony Khan calls AEW streaming on Max a ‘dream come true’

Tony Khan says the biggest opportunity in AEW history will be to start streaming on Max next month.

As part of the new media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery, episodes of AEW Dynamite and Collision will air simultaneously on the streaming service HBO, in addition to TBS and TNT, beginning with AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Khan recently took part in an interview on IHeartMedia’s Battleground podcast and said that getting AEW onto the HBO streaming service has been a goal of his for years.

Khan said:

“Starting in January, we have the greatest opportunity in AEW history since our initial launch on TNT and TBS. This is so huge for us that we can stream and simulcast on Max. We will keep the great homes we have on cable. We can stay on TBS every Wednesday, TNT every Saturday. These are staples of the cable industry and staples of pro wrestling, TBS and TNT. It’s great to be on the top cable channels, but it’s moving more and more towards streaming. It’s important to get a foothold on cable, which is still a huge platform, but streaming has the most momentum. Streaming is the future and Max is the best-in-class streaming platform.”

“That’s where we want AEW to be. That has been the goal for years. I’ve talked about this for years. It’s a dream come true.”

“And now it’s going to be great for all the cord cutters and the people who use Max to have AEW live streams on Wednesdays and Saturdays every week.”

“At the same time we are on TBS and TNT. It gives fans multiple options to watch the show and it will definitely increase our audience manifold.”

The first AEW show to air on Max will also be the first episode of Dynamite following the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 28 in Orlando, Florida. The Battle of the Fallen is scheduled for Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina, which was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Adam Copeland, Beth Phoenix, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler live in the area and have promoted Wheeler’s GoFundMe campaign to raise money for those affected.
